Hyaluronic acid filler

The filler injections with hyaluronic acid are a popular minimally invasive cosmetic treatment for wrinkle reduction and facial volume enhancement. Here's what you need to know:

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the body that can retain large amounts of water. It is present in the skin, joints and connective tissue. With age, its concentration decreases, leading to the appearance of wrinkles and loss of volume.

Areas of application of hyaluronic acid fillers

Wrinkle treatment:

  • Nasolabial folds (between the nose and the corner of the mouth)

  • Marionette lines (from the corner of the mouth downward)

  • forehead and frown wrinkles (limited use - more suitable for botulinum toxin)

Volume and facial contouring:

  • Cheek and cheekbone augmentation

  • Filling of the tear trough (dark circles under the eyes)

  • Chin and jawline contouring

  • Nasal correction without surgery (non-surgical rhinoplasty)

Duration of treatment and effects

  • Duration: approx. 15-45 minutes (with anesthetic gel)

  • Visible results: immediate, with possible slight swelling

  • Duration of effect: approx. 6 to 18 months (depending on product, area and metabolism)

Risks and side effects

Treatment is usually well tolerated. Possible effects include:

  • Redness, swelling, small bruises (temporary)

  • Small lumps (rare)

  • Infections (rare, but possible)

Important: treatment should only be performed by experienced plastic surgeons or qualified dermatologists.

Hyaluronic acid reversibility

One great advantage is that hyaluronic acid is reversible. In rare cases of complications, such as excess volume, it can be dissolved by the enzyme hyaluronidase.

Recommendations before treatment

  • Do not take aspirin or anticoagulants 3 days before (to avoid hematomas).

  • Do not consume alcohol 24 hours before.

  • To go to the prior consultation.

  • Choose a reliable clinic with certified specialists, experience and high hygiene standards.
