Tattoo removal

The laser tattoo removal is a common, safe and effective method for removing unwanted tattoos. Here's what you need to know:

How does laser tattoo removal work?

A special laser Q-switched o peak laser emits short, high-energy pulses into the skin. These pulses fragment the ink pigments into very small particles, which are then eliminated by the body's immune system.

Key data

  • Duration per session: 5-30 minutes (depending on size and color)

  • Number of sessions: 3-10 or more, at 6-8 week intervals

  • Pain: similar to a snap of an elastic band or the tattoo itself; local anesthesia or cooling systems can be used

  • Colors: black is the easiest to remove; bright colors (green, blue, yellow) are more difficult

  • Risk of scarring: low when performed by a professional; higher with improper use

Advantages

  • Non-invasive (no cutting)

  • High success rate in professional tattooing

  • Long-term skin safety with proper skin care

Possible side effects

  • Redness, swelling or blisters

  • Pigmentation changes (lighter or darker areas)

  • Itching or crusting

  • In very rare cases: scars

Aftercare

  • Apply cold (e.g. cold compresses).

  • Avoid sun exposure (at least 4 weeks before and after).

  • Do not rub the treated area

  • Do not apply ointments without consulting a physician

  • Maintain good hygiene to avoid infections
